We couldn't ask for a more beautiful day on Sunday as we headed down Oak Creek Canyon (only 45 minutes from our house) towards Sedona, AZ. You drive thru a bunch of switchbacks and drop 2000 feet in about 20 minutes. Absolutely breathtaking views. Sunny, Grace and I spent a few hours just piddling around by the creek. We had our own 'private' beach to have a nice picnic lunch and wade around in the water. Grace was a little skeptical when she saw all the minnows swimming around her piggies! It was a little funny feeling them bump into your feet.

That rock behind us would've been a perfect rock for our 3 hineys to recline in...however, though it doesn't look very deep, to get there we'd have to wade thru water up past our waists...I know our beach was 'private', but not that private! If you get my drift! ;)

ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I love Oak Creek Canyon and Sedona. We stayed a couple of days at Garlands years ago. We absolutely loved it.

ReplyDeleteI just saw on the news yesterday a blurb about the "newest" way to get a pedicure. It is practiced in either Japan or China (can't remember which) and it is putting your feet in a pan filled with tiny fishes and they nibble all your dead skin away. I don't believe I would enjoy it. I remember putting my feet in the spring in Mammoth Springs, AR and the fish nibbling my feet and didn't like it at all. Connie

ReplyDeleteStunning! You should read Call of the Canyon by Zane Grey. Wonderful novel, one of my favorites, very evocative of its time (1920s) and place, and it takes place in Oak Creek Canyon!
