To everything there is a season,

a time for every purpose under heaven.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (nkjv)

I CAN'T HELP IT...IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL!

This is the time of year that I begin having mixed emotions about the change of seasons. Emotions that I don't feel any other time of the year. I never have any trouble exiting winter--Adios, See ya, Goodbye! And spring, of course, brings the hope of summer. But then August arrives and I begin having twinges of anticipation for fall, yet I don't want summer to end. I'm betwixt and between. Do any of you experience this?

I guess the only way I can explain my feelings right now are like in the Bug's Life movie where the bugs are drawn towards the light of the bug zapper. One of the bugs warns the other to stay away from the light, and the other bug, like he's drugged says, "I can't help it...it's so beautiful!"

~~zzZAP! r.i.p. summer~~

That's me, right now. I want summer to go on for a little longer, but I'm being pulled towards fall like the pretty light of the zapper.

So for now, I'll just fly a little slower towards the 'Autumn Zapper' and enjoy each day of the rest of summer as it comes.

I guess I'm hopelessly...normal?

It's All I CAN'T HELP IT Good!

  2. Hi Brenda, I came here from your sisters site. I feel the same way. I don't want summer to end, for one reason is I have the whole summer off because I work for the school board here in Canada, I am an Educational Assistant and work with kids with special needs. Anyway, I always get so down right now, as school starts the day after labour day. I always feel gee I wish I could retire, Im tired of working lol. been doing this job for 20 years, but I love it, but all the same, Its nice being off. But the fall time is so beautiful, I love seeing the changing of the leaves, and I am so glad to get rid of the humidity here. So yes you are normal, and so am I...take care..mary

  4. I feel a little this way too. However, fall is my favorite time of the year and I am ready for a little cooler weather so I am anxious for it to come. However, it is hard to let go of summer. Guess I'm normal too, ha,
    Have a great week.

  5. Now you see, I'm the opposite. I have no trouble at all saying goodbye to Summer. Bring on Fall and Winter, and even Spring! Summer....not so much. I likes me some cold weather and I'm well insulated for it. ;o)

Have a great week, Brenda! :o)

    Love and hugs,

    Diane

  6. I'm so with you on the betwixt and between thing. I'm always excited for summer to arrive and then sad to see it go...yet I love the fall and all it has to offer.

Also, as much as I love fall, I dread it sometimes because my birthday is in the fall and I dread birthdays. I hate getting older!

  7. As far as the seasons go, I love going from summer to fall -- cooler temperatures and beautiful colors. But as far as the schedules, I do have mixed emotions -- I want to hang on to the more relaxed pace of summer longer. The school schedule gives us more structure, which we need, but also a lot more bustle and details to keep up with, which I don't like.

I don't like transitioning from fall to winter, but I do like all the others.

  8. Fall is my favorite time of year, Brenda, so I always look forward to it. Maybe you have mixed emotions about it because you know winter is always around the corner when autumn arrives.

Hope you have a good week.

  12. Brenda,

I hear you! And I agree with you--normal is the word! This is always a funny time of year--it's a time of transition and the move from summer to fall always feels so big.

Hang in there! You're not alone in your feelings with this! :-)
