silent night or JINGLE BELLS?

Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright

1. christmas party(s)
buy new outfit
buy gifts for exchange games
make fudge

Round yon virgin, mother and child
Holy infant so tender and mild

2. Christmas shopping
get shopping done in time for shipping
they really want this & this & this but we can't afford it
we'll get it...don't want to dissappoint.

Sleep in Heavenly peace
Sleep in Heavenly peace

3. Christmas activities
weekly practice for church program beginning mid-November
dress rehearsal
3 performances

Silent night, holy night
Shepherds quake, at the sight

4. More Christmas shopping
oh man, I forgot teacher's gift
should I get this?...don't want to 'kiss up'
or should I get this?...will she think I'm cheap?

Glorious stream from Heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!

5. More Christmas activities
volunteer to help make costume for school play
don't forget camera
performance 10:00 a.m. in kindergarten room...get a good laugh at all of our thighs hanging off those cute little kindergarten chairs

Christ the Saviour is born
Christ the Saviour is born

6. Christmas cooking/baking
but they love my cheeseball and crackers
but they're expecting my famous enchiladas day after Christmas
have to make those sugar cookies, trouffles, Chex mix, hot chocolate mix, gingerbread cookies, banana bread--along with breakfast, lunch & dinner for family

Silent night, holy night
Son of God loves pure light

7. STOP! the madness

Radiant beams from thy Holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace

8. Spendiing time with the Lord
devotions
fill my cup Lord
this is the day the Lord has made

Jesus Lord at thy birth
Jesus Lord at thy birth

9. Spending time with the kiddos
sitting on the couch reading to them
doing a daily Christmas advent
instilling in them the True meaning of Christmas

Is your Christmas season a
JINGLE BELLS
or a
Silent Night

Are we about the Lord's Business
or
getting caught up
in the holiday BUSY-NESS?

I know that Christmas is only 3 short days away, but there's still time to find His peace.
Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful." (John 14:27)

.
It's All Merry CHRISTmas Good!

  1. Brenda,

I had no idea that your sister was in the hospital. I've been away from blogs for a while. Please know that she is most certainly in my prayers, as is the rest of your family. I am so sorry.

Take care of yourself. I hope you can take some comfort in knowing that so many of us are praying.

  2. So wonderfully put and said, Brenda. Love the way you wove the Hymn in with all the business. (As I typed this I though busy-ness!!) That is the balancing act that we all must do during this Season.

  4. Excellent Brenda. I totally understand. There is so much that we forget that it really is a simple and joyous time to reflect and rejoice. Love how you presented this. So inspiring. Thanks so much.

Silent night to you and yours.

  6. Afraid that I am in Jingle Bell mode. I need to take a moment to reflect. I do feel SO blessed though to be able to physically handle the busy, financially (sort of) handle the gifts, and to know that Christ truly is my reason for being.

    Merry Christmas Brenda!!

  12. Brenda, found you through Susan at Penless. We're in Phoenix....no snow, but nice cold and rainy stuff everywhere! I really like the comparison/contrast that you did with the song Silent Night. Thank you for passing that on to all of us. Blessings to you and yours!!
