Hello everyone! I am taking a break from my hectic real life to prove that I'm still alive and well even in the midst of extreme chaos!
We are in the throes of battling moving boxes as suggested by the above picture (not my feet by the way) and I believe we are winning. Wouldn't know it from the looks of our new digs at the moment, but progress is being made slooowwwly.
We have moved into our own place after living with my sister and her husband for a year. (Forever grateful to you, Reva and Rick!) We now live in a old house one block west of Main St., Small Town, USA. Population 1,200. The house, built in 1906, has been in neglect and is in need of some serious TLC. (I'd take pics for ya but I don't know which box my camera is in).
Anyhow, I'm a firm believer that there is nothing that a good coat of paint can't fix, so that's where I'm going to start. Of course there are other things that need tending to such as the yard, the 1970's orange carpet in the bedrooms, and the retro orange, gold & avacado green leno in the kitchen. {Can I hear a YIKES!?!}
Since we are renting there's only so much we can do, but we do have access to some brand-new carpet (circa 2008) from my brother, and it looks like there might be some nice hardwood floors under it all, so that might be an option. As for the leno in the kitchen I think throw rugs will have to do the trick.
I plan on taking progress pictures when the camera box shows up.
And for other news, Sunny started his new job last Monday and is really enjoying it. (Which would explain the slow progress on the moving-in front.)
Now, back to my regularly scheduled real-life program. And I hope I don't have to move again for a really long time!
It's All Alive & Well Good!

It's good to hear from you again. Congrats on the new place. Won't be long and you'll be settled in, and enjoying the new paint job!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you got the picture of yourself piled under the boxes since you don't know where your camera is - - - but that picture is a HOOT and just perfect for this post.
ReplyDeleteI guess I somehow missed the fact that you've been living WITH your sis for a year - - - here I thought you were in your own place this whole time!
Glad you getting settled.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see progress photos.
Good luck with the up-dating of the retro look.
Have fun!
We already miss you!!
What town? E-mail me if you don't want to say it out loud!
ReplyDeleteCute picture! We're moving out of state this summer and have had fun looking at houses. Actually going through those boxes will be another story, though! Hope it all goes well for you!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the new job for Sonny. I know moving is a pain, but you'll get settled in I know.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your ideas and how you transform your new home.

Great to hear from you! What a really cute picture!
ReplyDeleteBe sure and post some pictures when you get the chance!
Blessings on your new home and your hubby's new job!
Happy with you that you are on in your 'own' place. Am certain after not too long it will ago easier again.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new place and on the new job for Sunny. Lots of exciting stuff going on in your neck of the woods.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see pics when you're all settled in.
Brenda..it's all God is good! How amazing He has been in moving you guys around and placing you.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Love You! And if I was closer I would help!

Hi Brenda,
ReplyDeleteLooks like you're buried in boxes! Hahah!
Thanks for taking a moment to visit my blog today.
In the FlyLady's book "Sink Reflections" she devotes an entire chapter to moving. She's great at just breaking things down into bite sized pieces. She might have the same info on the website: Flylady.net
Take care!
Debbie
Best wishes, Brenda! Glad to hear you found your own place. Have fun fixing it up; that can be so rewarding. Tough, but rewarding. God bless.
ReplyDeleteI found you again. Not only were you buried in boxes you were lost to me.
ReplyDeleteWhat a huge job moving is. When I moved last (7 years ago) I told my kids the only way I was going to move again was going 'toe's up' or God was going to have to take me home.
Hopefully now that I have found you I can keep up with you.
Keep on keeping on

So glad that you are making it through your move. I love old homes...better yet...I love redecorating old homes. I can't wait to see the pictures as you go. Moving is chaos isn't it?
ReplyDeleteTake care and don't work TOO hard!
God bless!
