Whack-a-Phil

Raise your hand if you're tired of winter.
.
I was all set to do a little 'complaining' today and see if you all would join me in petitioning Washington for a new national holiday.
.
National Whack-A-Mole Day.
.
You know, just so the groundhog wouldn't have a chance to come out and see it's shadow.
.
But then...
.
I realized we could still be living in Flagstaff, AZ (where we moved from last May)...
.
where we could still be shoveling snow...
.
until May...
.
since the town just experienced the third largest snowstorm in it's history last week.
.
A whopping 6 feet of snow.
.
6 FEET OF SNOW, FOLKS!
.
12 business roofs collapsed. (Miraculously they collapsed during the night so there were no injuries.) The town had to virtually shut down. The Fire Marshall wouldn't let people back into their businesses until the roofs were inspected for safety. Workers have removed hundreds of semi-truck loads of snow. As much as we are feeling bad for our fellow Flagstafonians, we are so grateful that we are here in Colorado and not there!

So bring it on, Punxsutawney Phil, do your thing.
.
It's All I Can Take It Good!

btw, the pictures in my header are of last year's 3-foot snowstorm in Flagstaff. That's the deepest it ever got the 15 years we lived there.

  1. That is a lot of snow! But I am so tired of winter...I'm such a cry baby, I know!

  2. We just got 12 inches of snow, which is a record one day snowfall for us. Seems kinda puny next to that 6 FEET of snow!

Even so, I still love snow and Winter and I'm in no hurry to see either of them go. I know, I live in the South and snow is much rarer here than there, but I really don't think I'd ever tire of snow, and my hatred of hot muggy weather is legendary.

    Happy February! ;o)

    Love and hugs,

    Diane

  3. 6 feet of snow! Wow. Our little Southern town shuts down at a few inches. I am tired of the cold, but I really have no room to complain. But I am ready for spring, too.

  5. When I saw the elephant with the sledge hammer and I thought "Roll Tide! Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer!"

I am functioning on one remaining brain cell and it is getting weak.

I cannot begin to imagine snow like that! We freak out if we have a 1/2 foot here - no bread and milk for miles around. I'm glad you are in Colorado and not buried in a drift.

  10. I am with you! That is SNOW!!! I have no business complaining after seeing that. We have had a pretty mild winter as far as snow goes here in Ohio this year. I am deeply grateful for this...it has been frigid but I can handle the cold if the snow stays away.

    Have a blessed week!

Sorry to tell you this, but Phil didn't do it.

  12. I wouldn't mind more winter if it was just a lot of nice fluffy snow. I just don't want the super cold anymore!
I do love the snow and honestly I wish we had a little more here, not 6ft though.

    Were glad your here too!

  14. I've never personally seen more than 30 inches of snow...I don't even know what you do when it gets that high! Would you even know (would you be able to get outside to see it??)?

  15. Hi Brenda,

Those were all wonderful ideas for my daughter's graduation party. I secured the shelter so we are all ready to go there. I think it is going to be a lot of fun. Thanks for all your other tips...if you think of anymore...feel free.

    Have a great weekend,
    Joyce Marie

  16. I'm actually sorta ready for a "big" snow. We haven't gotten much lately. I'm fine with what we've gotten (and that it melts quickly) but I'm ready for a little more. I'm thinking we need the moisture too!
