Temple Maintenance

What on earth is this child doing?
I hid a plastic Easter egg in my shirt.  Of course she couldn’t find it, so I gave her a great big hug.  She felt it and said uh-uh.  She wasn’t going in!  So she pushed it out with her foot!  Cracked us up.

I know, that had nothing to do with the topic of this post.  Just had to share it.
I am so enjoying the beautiful weather.  I started walking nearly every nice day that I could since the first of the year.  I’m up to 2 miles with a goal of 4 miles by the end of summer.  21 days really does form a habit.
I’ve finally gotten to the place in my life where my health is more important than losing that ever-elusive ‘last 10 pounds’.  So I know that as I’m shifting my perspective, I’ll arrive at the exact weight I’m meant to be and stay there.
I’ve also began cleaning house in the food dept.  We have already been eating pretty healthy for the most part, but I’m stepping it up.  After researching and weighing the pros and cons, here is three things from my list of health enemies our family is saying adios to (obviously my opinion):
High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS)
Monosodium Glutamate (MSG)
Hydrogenated Oils
Each one of these are in nearly every processed food on the grocery shelf.  They are disguised with different names as well.  You can Google to find out other tags these go by.
My motto is:  The more man alters it the less healthy it is for us.
What I’m realizing is that it’s not hard to change eating habits if you take baby steps.  I’ll share the steps we’ve taken in Part 2.
Will we never, ever eat foods with these ingredients again?  We can’t do the impossible!  But we can do our best.
Grace & doll
And I leave you with another off-topic picture.  This was one of Grace’s Easter outfits we found on clearance at Sears.  We were able to buy 2 of these cute outfits that come with a matching doll outfit for the price of a frue-frue Easter dress.  Isn’t it adorable?
Oh, and Chels is coming this week for Grace’s 10th birthday.  We.can’t.wait!!!

  1. Adorable! She is getting big. Sounds like your doing great...all is well here too. WE have not had nice weather at all though...very cold and wet weather...I might add that it hasn't even begun to feel like spring here in Ohio. Sounds like your on your way to eating healthy too...I try to do the same thing...it's my philosophy too...we try to eat food as close to natural as possible...but it's hard...and sometimes we grab for something quick...but it's a process.

    Happy Spring!

  2. Beautiful dress for Grace and the doll - love them!

I did the same cleaning up a year and a half ago, lost 42 pounds, felt better. I've slipped a bit, but am attempting to get back on the horse. It's amazing what a difference it makes.

    Love the first picture!
