Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Share something you loved about your Christmas Day.

I enjoyed having a relaxing morning spent with our little family of four plus our daughter’s sweet boyfriend now in the mix.  My oldest daughter moved back in the fall, and that made our Christmas complete and probably the most special one in many years.

2. You get to put five items in a time capsule to be opened in 100 years, what items would you choose and why?

A Bible
A letter with a message of Salvation
some money--it would be interesting to see how it’s changed and what it’s worth, if anything!
Some margarine--see if it’s still ‘edible’!  most likely.
A letter to my family letting them know how much I loved them.

3. What do you like on a cracker?

A little butter and then a spoon of chili, yum!  If a pot of chili isn’t available, then a good homemade cheese ball spread.

4. Do you make resolutions at the start of a new year? How'd that work out for you this past year?

I don’t really do resolutions.  More like goals I’d like to accomplish.  Some of my goals from 2011 were accomplished and other will get booted to 2012--unless I can lose 20 lbs in the next few days!  haha!

5. What's a song or song lyric you'll associate with 2011?

Though I love music I don’t listen to much (oxymoron I know!).  I just enjoy peaceful quiet.  So this will sound crazy, but that song from Veggie Tales called “Oh Where is My Hairbrush”  only it was changed to “Oh Where is My Cell Phone”.  I was trying to download it to my ringtone--which I couldn’t because I’m so techno-challenged—but it got stuck in my head, and now I’m thankful that I didn’t put it on my phone.  Oh my, now I’m going to be hearing that all day!

6. How will you ring in the new year?

We never do much for New Year’s.  We bought my husband the whole MASH dvd collection, so we’ll probably watch some of those.  Doubt even if we’ll make it ‘til midnight.  (Please folks, be safe.)

7. What is something you look forward to in 2012?

I look forward to getting my Etsy store stocked as well as getting my new blog up and running.
I look forward to a closer walk with the Lord and being obedient to His voice.
Since we paid off our truck and got completely out of credit card debt in 2011 (can I hear an OH YEAH!) We look forward to finishing off some personal debt and by 2013 have no debt WHATSOEVER!  or EVER AGAIN!

8. Insert your own random thought here.

God is so good to us!

It’s All Good!

  1. What a good post - loved your answers to the questions. And being out of debt - it is a wonderful feeling. If it hadn't happened for us a few years ago, we'd not have been able to help Kristen and Kevin through these tough times. I keep hoping someday we can really use our own money!

Today is our 39th anniversary - I pulled out a post I did a few years ago and revamped it a bit. Hardly seems possible!

  3. Wow - CONGRATS on being debt free! What a great feeling! And I loved your margarine answer - I thought about perhaps putting a Twinkie in, for surely those things never ever ever go bad... which is kinda scary!

Been thinking about starting an Etsy store with a couple girlfriends. Still just in the talking stages though.
