1. The NFL playoffs were held this past weekend and this year's Superbowl lineup will feature The New York Giants versus The New England Patriots. How do you define 'patriot'?
Off the top of my head: One who is faithful, dependable and one who would die for what he believes in.
Having said that, I’m for the Giants!
2. What's something in your life right now that feels like a 'giant'?
I’m only on day 3 of a 9-day cleansing fast, so knowing I still have 6 days is a Goliath for me! I am determined to follow through with this, to be as healthy as possible, and to conquer the huge giant that food issues can become if I allow it. We’ve been doing good with our eating now for several years, but the holidays just scream baking which screams more sugar intake and all around unhealthy foods. But, I take full responsibility--I opened my mouth, I chewed and swallowed and now I’m reaping the consequences. So when this is over, I’ll be back on track and my ‘giant’ will be a thing of the past!
This cleansing fast I’m doing is not to be mistaken with the “Don’t Toot Your Horn” fast found in Matthew 6:16-18. Though I look forward to the spiritual benefits, this fast is primarily for health reasons.
{the fast: 3 days raw veggies/fruits, 3 days liquids (which includes veggie broth)and 3 days raw veggies/fruits, as well as continuing to take my multi-vitamin and green drink}
3. What's the first thing that comes to mind when you think back to being 18?
Wow, that’s a long time ago! 18 hmmm…how immature I was, but thinking how mature I was!
4. Coconut-mashed potatoes-vanilla ice cream-mayonnaise...which white food would be the hardest to give up?
Never liked coconut, hardly ever eat ice cream or mayo, so my answer would have to be mashed potatoes, though a baked potato is my preference.
5. Describe an incident or a day you remember as the coldest you've ever experienced?
I’m a weenie when it come to cold weather, so there have been many cold days in my life. 9-11 would be the coldest day I have experienced psychologically speaking.
6. You're hosting a brunch...what's your favorite dish to prepare and serve?
Green Chili Quiche. Yummy!
7. How do you combat negative thinking?
two words: THE WORD!
8. Insert your own random thought here.
I’m hungry!
It’s All see answer to #8 Good!

Green chilie quiche sounds good...do you share the recipe? Good luck with your fast!
ReplyDeleteThank you Joyce. Yes, I'll post the recipe soon.
DeleteHi Joyce, I have posted the recipe. Thanks for asking!
DeleteA nine day fast...wow! I wish you well with that.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.
Good luck on the fast! I am getting ready to do one but mine is only three days and I think that will be a struggle :) Best wishes!
ReplyDeleteI like your answer to #3 - pretty much the same as mine.
ReplyDeleteGood answers to interesting questions. My son lives in Maine and I asked him if he was very glad he wasn't watching the Broncos lose to the Patriots (called Pats, but seems it should be Pates) with the guys in the Teen Challenge house - he said they actually came to his house to watch and they were very respectful - it was just the media that was so horrid.
ReplyDeleteFasting for health - I haven't tried it, but am definitely getting back on track with the sugar thing that I totally lost after losing all that weight starting two years ago right now. I am very disgusted with myself, but have had a good week. I have found so many reasons to stay on a good food plan. It's just not worth it to eat the junk.
Have a great day!
I'm hungry too! Was probably that coconut, mayo and ice cream question! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYummo...that green chili quiche sounds great! Tell me what a green drink is? My daughter did the Aveda cleanse....and has removed all whey and glutten from her diet...as well as dairy. She is looking amazing.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with you fast. It certainly sounds challenging!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about the way we eat during the holidays. I make candy in which we all end up eating way more than any of us need.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on the fast, I would have a hard time doing it because I don't care for raw veggies.
Good luck with that 9 day fast! It sounds hard! Great answers
ReplyDeleteGreen Chili Quiche sounds good. I wish you well on the fast, I've done fasts before and I am juicing every chance I get right now. I made a big juice this morning with kale, carrot, beet, red cabbage, apple, ginger and cilantro. Yum!
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll share your green chili quiche with us! I also hope your purge works well for you. I'm a bit chicken to try one.
ReplyDeleteThank you for leaving your comment on my blog today, I appreciate the visit!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your health kick :)
I definitely agree with you on #5, a VERY cold day indeed!
ReplyDeleteYour daughters are beautiful!
First off....green chili quiche? Oh, do I ever want that recipe please. That sounds so very delicious, I would love to try it. Have you posted this on your blog before...if so, tell me where to look.
ReplyDeleteAnd I like your answer [very much so] to the 18 yr old. I really think we were all like that. Tho, some probably wouldn't admit it.
And your mashed potatoes answer is exactly the reasoning I had today.
Kudos to you for your and your Healthy Fast!
ReplyDeleteOH, yea, I thought I was so mature at 18 too and I was married at 19, oh, so scary. But, we have survived 41 years.
Happy rest of the week and blessings to you!
I enjoyed reading your answers. That 9 day cleansing fast would be hard--especially the 3 days of liquids. I'd be hungry, too!
ReplyDeleteyou can make it thru the fast...hang in there!
ReplyDeleteYay for fasts! I've done two 10-day juice fasts, so I understand the willpower that's involved. Keep at it!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping over today. That cleanse sounds very interesting. Interesting answer for #5, I like your reference to 911. Your girls are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI think most of us were like that at 18. :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't care for coconut, had to give up ice cream (lactose intolerant), prefer to Miracle Whip to mayo. I love mashed potatoes but don't have them often. But I would hate to give them up completely.
Amen To #7.
