Being Me

Being Myself.

I like to say that, with me, what you see is what you get. For my family and IRL friends who know me, I hope you feel this is true. For my online friends whom I've never met in person, you have to trust that what I post is truly who I am.

What you won't see from me is laying my whole life out for everyone to see, whether in real life or online. I believe there are some personal things in my life that are just that, personal.  Because, honestly, do people really need to know every detail of your life, for the sake of 'being yourself'? for the sake of 'being real'? I've read posts before where people scoff at those who only write happy-go-lucky posts saying they're not being real.  Here's a news flash, some of us just don't air our dirty laundry out for the world to see. And I'll be honest, I steer clear of bloggers who do that. We'd rather keep our lives/blogs lighthearted and encouraging.  But, you say, I need prayer for this matter.  Ok, having a genuine prayer request is one thing, but holy cow people, letting the entire online world know about your problems with your step-daughter's son's mother-in-law's ingrown toenail is really none of my business. We have a big personal God.  Do you honestly think He isn't capable of helping you through a problem without the 'help' of the multitudes in cyberspace?

Done with that rant.

Being myself is living my slow-paced life in our beautiful little town of 1200 people, enjoying my husband and girls and our big puppy.  It's doing my best to 'live peaceably among all men as much as I am able'.

It's All Being Myself Good!

{update 6/15 - This post was part the A-Z blogging challenge I participated in for...two days. My mother-in-law passed away two days later, so obviously the challenge didn't happen.  I did write quite a few drafts however, and will post them.}

  2. Hello, thought I'd stop in for a chat... I enjoyed your post yesterday morning (today is "C") but just got to it today. I'm a little old lady in Texas who is almost 82 and I've been posting about as long as you have. Come see me. I live with just a kitty cat, who thinks she owns me. :). Ciao! Meow! Best regards, Ruby aka Blabbin' Grammy.

  5. Great post!

    I'm one of those "happy go lucky" bloggers. I have people, off line, who listen to my personal journeys. I don't like reading those very posts you've described. I move on quickly.

    Continue "being you" it's who you are. Sounds like you have a beautiful life.

    Have fun with the A to Z Challenge… I'll be back.

  6. I tend to agree with you. Some things don't need to be discussed in a blog post that is up for all to see except in rare circumstances.

    Hope you catch up to the letter of the day. You were off to a good start.

  7. Brenda,
    I totally agree about sharing every little detail (and so private) of life! I get embarrassed for those on FB who tell personal things about kids and husbands and fights. My goodness....social media is a pain!

    I've also never understood those who get upset with the positive people. No, my life isn't perfect, but who likes a whiner?
