Good Pain

I know what you're thinking--oh no, another one of her grief posts. But no, that is not what this is about. Whew! Right? :)

I went to the chiropractor today. Now before you think 'yeah and...?' work with me here. I haven't seen a chiropractor in years. (Rabbit trail:  I remember a preacher speaking about chiropractors in his sermon one time, only he kept calling them choirpractors--as in 'choir practice'. I fought getting the giggles every time he would say it. And you know what happens when someone fights the giggles!)

Back to my visit. I went at the recommendation of my dentist who said my jaw being out of whack may be what is causing some of my dental problems. The chiropractor {giggle} did a head-to-toe work over on me and boy, am I feeling it tonight. He even did this clicker thingerbob on my face and head freeing up my sinuses. I knew I was stiff and had tight muscles, but the neat thing is that even though I'm sore, I feel so loose and fluid. I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about. It feels like my body isn't struggling to move. I guess you could say its put a bounce in my step again.

It's a good pain. That got me to thinking about the good pain that goes on when we allow the Lord to help us or chastise us along our spiritual journey. It doesn't feel good for a moment, but the freedom we experience by obeying and trusting His gracious correction allows us to be able to move on without struggling or feeling so heavy. What a wonderful God we serve!

One interesting thing I learned today is that when one's jaw is all out of whack the tailbone is probably out of whack as well. And vise versa. Sure enough that was the case with me.

I know this post is probably preaching to the choir--get it? I crack myself up! But its new to me.

It's All Feeling Good Good!

  1. I've never had the courage to go to a chiropractor, but I know they have helped many people with needed adjustments.I HAVE been to God for adjustments--and you are right. Sometimes they are painful but bring about good in the end. :)
