Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!
Let your gentleness be known to all men.
The Lord is at hand.
Be anxious for nothing,
but in everything by prayer and supplication,
with thanksgiving,
let your requests be made known to God;
and the peace of God,
which surpasses all understanding,
will guard your hearts and minds
through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7 nkjv
In case you couldn't tell from my last post (sarcasm here) I was quite discouraged by the outcome of the election. And for two reasons, I'm going to bring it up again.

First, I want to thank all of my blogging friends who were so encouraging through their comments. And secondly, and because of their comments, The Lord grounded me again with the above verse.

It's interesting to me how we are told to rejoice always, and in the same breath reminded again to...rejoice. Is it that we forget so easily, or days like last Tuesday trip us up?

Check out all these gentle reminders just in one verse:
Rejoice
Be gentle
The Lord is at hand
Don't worry
Pray
Be Thankful
And the two benefits we'll receive is:
Peace that passes understanding. I like to call it 'freaky peace'. The kind where all heck can be breaking loose in your life, but you still can have a wonderful calmness inside.
Our hearts and minds will be guarded through Christ Jesus.

And the next verse goes into the 'whatevers' I wrote about here.

Concerning the election, and I'm sorry I can't remember on whose blog/comment I read this, but they put it back into perspective when they said, "God wasn't up there wringing his hands and fretting over the outcome". He was the same loving and holy God before that He is now. I'm so thankful that He never changes.
It's All NO FEAR Good!
UPDATE: IT'S SNOWING!!!
w/ LIGHTENING & THUNDER!
GO FIGURE!

  1. I love the "whatever" verse. As a young Christian, I used to worry and fret over every little thing. Then I read that verse and what spoke to me most was the part that says "think on these things". All the "whatevers" are the "these things" that God wants us to think about. So, even with the election outcome, I'm still gonna think on all the "whatevers" and know that God is in total control! :) Thanks for sharing, Brenda, your posts always bless me.
Hope you're having a great Sunday.

  4. God is God, no matter the ways of men, and no matter how much we may fret over our nation or our own personal situation.

    Great devotion, Brenda! :o)

We had thunder snow last Winter and a couple of other times that I can remember. It is kinda weird, ain't it?

    Love and hugs,

  5. I love your new banner...too cute!

Even though the election didn't turn out the way I wanted it to either, I didn't fret. What's done is done and yes, God is in control, now and forever. Like you, I'm putting my faith and trust in Him alone!

  6. SNOWING!!! I am not at all surprised. We dropped off and down Hwy 40 yesterday afternoon someplace around 3 or 4 p.m., stopped to gas up, up there and the wind was blowing so hard and it was so cold that BB said, "If I owned this place and Hell, I would rent this place out and live in Hell"!! Now you know how cold us desert rats were near your chosen place to live.

Re: Election? I am just hoping and praying that our new President will surprise all us naysayers and be the best Pres. ever. Connie

  10. Did the snow stick??

It's still too early for snow here, but it's always exciting when it comes for the first time.

Hope you're having a wonderful week.

  11. Howdy Brenda. I'm so thankful that depression doesn't come and stay (unless you have a medical problem, of course). I was pretty depressed last Tuesday night, but I'm all better now. Reading posts like this one has been beneficial. We need to remember that our God is still here and he is in control. His ultimate will shall prevail.
    Hugs,
    Charlotte
