I won!

Yep, in all these years blogging I won something!  Not that I’ve actually been a faithful blogger nor an avid giveaway searcher-outer (is that a word?).

Kim over at Raise Them Up hosted a giveaway for The Shunning dvd and I won!

The-Shunning-DVD

My daughter has recently been intrigued by how the Amish live, so when I saw this giveaway I jumped on it and found a neat new blog in the process!  Thank you, Kim!

We have watched the movie and it is good.  I hadn’t read the book to compare until I hit the jackpot at a yard sale the other day.  I bought a nice 3-in-1 book of The Shunning series as well as several other Amish related books.  The book is a lot different than the movie (no surprise) but the gist is there.  I’m glad I saw the movie first.  I do enjoy Beverly Lewis books.

Though it’s interesting to read about the Amish and how they live in this fast-paced world, I’m so thankful that we receive our salvation through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.  We are delivered from the law (old testament) and also free from the curse of the law.

This dvd is a great springboard in helping Grace understand grace vs. law.

It’s All Thanks Again Kim Good!

  3. Congratulations! I think that was the first Lewis book I read, and I have read all of them since. I hate how movies change things, though -- but it has been so long since I read that one that I probably wouldn't remember, LOL!

  4. I had just read The Shunning the week the movie came out. I watched the first few minutes and decided to stick with the book - I have a hard time with movies that change the book so much. I'm glad you won it, though!

I've been reading a lot of Beverly Lewis and am very interested in all her different points of view of the Amish. I'd like to come down to CS and visit with her sometime.

Thanks for coming over for a visit today!
