Hodgepodge time!

1. A new Miss America was crowned on Saturday night-did you watch? If you were a contestant what would your talent be?

We didn’t watch the pageant.  Talent?  Hmmm…since I am so talented it would be hard to choose.  But it wouldn’t matter anyway, because I’d be so scared, I’d lose control of a particular bodily function.

2. Do you have houseplants? Real or fake?

No real ones and a couple of fake {though I prefer the term faux…sounds so sophisticated!}  Which reminds me of a tag I recently read on a purse given to me:  Made in China, Real Faux Leather--What a hoot!  I know…off topic.

3. When you were in school did you speak up or were you more of the hide your face, avoid eye contact, and pray the teacher didn't call on you type of student?

Ditto numero uno—minus the talent part!

4. Next Monday marks the Chinese New Year...what do you order when someone suggests Chinese food?

My favorite is Beef Broccoli with Fried Rice…minus the MSG.

5. How would you define a miracle? What would it take for you to consider something a miracle?

Daughter #1 and Daughter #2!  {sounds a little Dr. Seuss-ish!} I know all children are miracles, but we needed a little extra help with both of ours.  Chels was conceived after 5 1/2 years.  Ironically, we had made an appointment with an infertility clinic, but the appointment was 6 weeks out.  Little did I know I was pregnant already!  Grace came 13 years after Chels.  I guess you could say we raise(d) ours one at a time!  God is good!

6. What's your favorite Disney song? If you're stuck you'll find a list here.

Just a Spoon Full of Sugar – Mary Poppins.  Brings back some fun childhood memories.

7. I should have _______________ yesterday.  Can’t think of anything off the top of my head.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

My husband was laid off last Thursday.  He has already been doing side plumbing/heating jobs with the goal of officially beginning our own business within the next 6 months.  But God had different plans!  He had 3 big jobs come in, and just the night before, we were wondering how he was going to get them done along with his regular full-time job.  We’re excited and know that God is our Provider and will meet the needs.  In the meantime, he will be able to collect some unemployment.  Prayers appreciated!

It’s All We’re in Business Good!

  2. As my husband will be unemployed as of June 2012 (his choice - he resigned a job at a Christian school that has changed direction so drastically he can not work there any more), it is encouraging to be reminded GOD IS OUR PROVIDER!!!!! I am trusting him for our next job too!
I feel like my baby is an "only child" as she is 9 years younger than her next sibling - but I see you've done the same - with yours 13 years apart! I love the thought of "raising them one at a time"! :) Praise God for His miracle gifts!! :)

  3. I'm sorry to hear about your husband being laid off. But wow, what an example of God answering even being being asked! My son was let go from his job the week before Thanksgiving (at a 1-man office -- the guy had hired him 6 mo. before but just couldn't afford to keep him on) and can't get because the job was classified as either self-employed or contract labor (which may be the same thing...) We're praying God provides something asap.

In some classes I was the eager competitive student, in others I preferred to be obscure.

Wow, hard to pick one Disney song. Probably my all time favorite is Baby Mine from Dumbo (though I didn't really care for the film itself). But I also like Beauty and the Beast, I'm Just a Little Black Rain Cloud, the rain song from Bambi (something like Drip, Drip, Drop, Little April Showers), and many more.

  7. Wow, wow, and wow! Your stories about your girls and the job...it's amazing how you've been able to see the blessings from what have, most certainly, been challenging times. Kudos!

  8. Life always turns out for the better, and we are either in awe of how things go, or just don't understand and can't comprehend that good things come in time. Prayers are always answered.

    What an incredible #8.
