Good News (but I knew he could do it!)

First off I am so proud of my husband.  He passed his test and is now, again, a Master Plumbing Contractor!  WooHoo!  (The benefit of having his MPC License is for new-construction/remodeling jobs that require pulling permits.)  He has been studying so hard the last several months.  When we moved to AZ 15 years ago, he let his license lapse (a mistake in hindsight).  Thankfully the state board let him 'grandfather' in all the hours required (I think around 5000), and he only had to take the written test.

The Lord's hand has been obviously evident since we moved back to Colorado and even more so after moving back to Fowler.  We've seen an acceleration that has had us holding on to our hats and enjoying the ride!  Amazing what happens when there is an absence of fear and trust kicks in.

A little history:

Sunny's dad started Eddy Plumbing and Heating way back in the 50's.  Of course, since Sunny was a little tike he'd be out 'helping' his daddy.  In the early 90's Sunny became a Master Plumber and continued working with his dad before we moved to AZ.  (I will spare you the details of the 20 year gap.  Stories for another time.)  In the meantime his dad passed on which meant the business ended as well.

Fast forward to 2008.  When we moved back, we had no intention of getting back into the p & h business.  After moving to Fowler, Sunny began doing heating/cooling estimates for a p & h company 35 miles away.  That worked out for about 18 months when business dropped substantially and they laid him off.

Here's the funny part.  Our side business had gradually been doing more and more.  Just the night before several big jobs had come in, and Sunny wondered how he was going to get them done while working full-time with the other company.  Our plans were to be able to go full time with Eddy P & H within six months or so.  But God had other plans!  He knew we were erring on the side of caution so He decided to give Sunny a 'promotion' by laying Him off!  You know, sometimes it takes us awhile to 'get it'.

Since then business has been steady with work ahead.  And blessings abound!  Sunny's aunt wanted to be a part and blessed Sunny with the textbooks required for the test.  Another friend recently approached Sunny and wants to buy the tools needed to service air conditioning units.  A good contractor friend of ours who lives in AZ wants Sunny to make a list of the tools he needs.  We are buying a trailer from my dad who doesn't want us to pay until the license tags are due in Sept.  We are extremely blessed and know that the Lord is 'working to will and do of His good pleasure' in our lives.

Proverbs 22:1 says:  A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, loving favor rather than silver and gold.

The legacy of the Eddy name has preceded us.  The good people of Fowler have welcomed us back and have been so graciously supportive of our business.

It's All Good Job Sunny Good!

Brenda

  3. I love your statement that it is amazing what happens when there is an absence of fear and trust kicks in ...
That's SO where we are right now (well, the fear is rearing its ugly head occasionally) - but in our own job quest, we have no control other than to do our part and TRUST God to work. My hubby has a job interview on Friday - a job I really want him to get - but I am resorting to just pray, "God, Your will be done."
Thanks for sharing your story - it is encouraging to look back & see God's Hand!
