Living Lessons #4 Lemons To Lemonade

Living lesson #4 has to do with the saying we've all heard, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade". Though our Mom's passing was God-peaceful, it was still one of the hardest things for me to experience.  In her case, cancer was the lemons.  But heaven is the lemonade!

For my family, I believe we have all experienced the necessary moments of grief.  For me, I'm coming through this process with a better perspective on the value of living life to the fullest.  The lemon that was my Mom's death I've allowed to turn into the lemonade of more confidence, assurance, security in knowing who I am in Christ.

But this post is about how our youngest brother, Jerry, made lemonade from the lemons dealt to him.  As you can see from the picture, he loves the outdoors.  Jerry has started a non-profit organization called Fourteeners Forcancer in our Mom's honor.  He accepts donations for each climb and the monies donated will be given to Mt. St. Francis Hospice and Brent's Place (a care facility for children with cancer.)  He started this last spring and did several climbs during the summer and fall.  (You can follow his climbs along with beautiful pictures he takes along the way by liking his Facebook page 14ers ForCancer.)

This pic was of his July 12th Memorial climb, Mount of the Holy Cross, (elev. 14,005 ft.) in honor of our Mom's Christian heritage.

Thank you to all who have supported Jerry and 14ers.  Because of your donations, on Christmas Eve he was able to bless Brent's Place located in Aurora, CO,

and Mount St. Francis Hospice in Colorado Springs, CO.  (I will write another post about this beautiful lady and the awesome care our Mom received.)

If you look closely at the 14ers ForCancer Logo, on the far left you'll see our Mom's initials MJC in the clouds.  Love it!
